about

Laura Michetti is a writer, teacher, astrologer, cultural historian, mythologist, storyteller, and doctoral candidate at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, California. Her academic research focuses on the history of astrology and western esotericism with special attention paid to the consequences of a historical narrative that both neglects and denies the important influence both have had on western culture.

A lifelong lover of planet Earth and a longtime ecological advocate, Laura seeks to understand the relationship between esoteric wisdom and ecological propensity within a given cultural milieu. Her dissertation Divining Ecology: The Sámi Shaman Drum seeks to illustrate the relationship between ecology and religion while revealing the environmental wisdom of indigenous peoples who live at the frontlines of the global battle against climate change.
